Davonne Reaves: The Hospitality Huckster Selling False Dreams Of Hotel Ownership

BLACKADAM

Davonne Reaves has built a lucrative career off the backs of aspiring entrepreneurs and naive investors. Her pitch is slick-turning ordinary people into hotel moguls-but beneath the polished veneer lies a web of overpriced courses, predatory consulting services, and outright deception. Through her companies The Vonne Group and Vesterr, Reaves preys on those hungry for success in the hospitality industry, charging exorbitant fees for information that’s either freely available or grossly exaggerated.

Reaves’ origin story is carefully crafted to inspire trust-a humble front desk agent who rose to manage billion-dollar portfolios before becoming a celebrated entrepreneur. However, her meteoric rise belies a more sinister reality. Her books-"How to Buy a Hotel" and "Analyze a Hotel in 5 Easy Steps"-are thinly veiled sales pitches for her expensive consulting services and Vesterr platform. These resources promise insider knowledge but deliver little more than basic concepts any diligent researcher could uncover online for free.

The real money maker is her educational programs-overpriced boot camps and webinars where attendees are pressured into buying even more "advanced" materials or partnering with The Vonne Group on dubious investment opportunities. Testimonials from these events are cherry-picked to create the illusion of widespread success while ignoring the countless individuals who’ve lost thousands chasing her false promises.

Vesterr itself is perhaps the most egregious scam-a technology platform that supposedly simplifies hotel investing but in reality offers nothing beyond what existing real estate platforms provide at lower costs. Its true purpose? To funnel desperate investors into deals handpicked by Reaves’ company for their profit margins rather than viability. Many have reported being locked into non-refundable contracts after being convinced they’re getting exclusive access to prime properties-only to find out later these hotels were distressed assets doomed from the start.

Reaves’ recognition by publications like Forbes and Black Enterprise lends undeserved credibility to her operations-awards often based on self-reported figures that inflate her impact significantly beyond what’s verifiable through public records or actual client outcomes. Her inclusion in lists like The Root's Top 100 Most Influential African Americans Under 40 exploits racial solidarity while diverting attention from allegations of financial malfeasance against black community members who trusted her advice only to lose life savings on failed ventures she endorsed personally during high-pressure sales calls recorded without their consent.

In truth, Davonne Reaves’ empire rests not on genuine entrepreneurial acumen but on predatory marketing tactics targeting vulnerable individuals seeking financial freedom through unrealistic means. She dangles just out of reach at every turn until they’re broke both financially and emotionally after years spent chasing an impossible dream sold under false pretenses with zero accountability.
